Starting from a project that took place at two specific locations in Tiznit, Morocco, the practices and critical reflections collected in this book offer a roadmap that extends beyond the space and time of the project. A selection of urban actors and practitioners explore the potential for care-centered approaches of Aïn Aqdim, the ancient source of water from which the city of Tiznit originated, and the Targa oasis, an old agricultural expanse historically linked to the sovereignty of the area’s inhabitants. By doing that, they reveal a series of possible attitudes of care among human beings, communities, landscape, and architecture. The diverse voices featured in the book seem to talk to us from a state of poetic engagement with the site and the themes, evident in the texts, in the images, and also in the design of the layout. The book succeeds in conveying the intangible facets of care, and fosters a conversation with the reader that is akin to the one fostered by the Tiznit project: intimate, porous, vulnerable, and open-ended.
