Founded in 2004 Architektūros fondas has established itself as one of the key institutions in the architectural and cultural field in Lithuania disseminating architecture culture and empowering the development of conscious and critical participation in relevant architectural discourses and processes. The organization operates as a network hosting bottom-up initiatives and projects that focus on architectural culture and education, fostering contemporary debate about architecture among professionals and the public.
Architektūros fondas has been organizing a number of public events, cultural and educational projects such as lecture series, public discussions, architecture festivals Open House Vilnius and Pastatai kalba, architecture education program for children Traveling Architecture Workshops, publication platform Aikštėje and a mentorship program Experiments’ platform. It has also been involved in curatorial projects and exhibitions in Lithuania and abroad including Lithuanian representation in the International Architecture Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia showcasing The Baltic Pavilion in 2016, and The Swamp School in 2018. In 2019 Architektūros fondas joined the pan-European network – Future Architecture platform.
